About Herniated Discs
Made of 33 vertebrae, these small bones in the spinal column stabilize and provide flexibility for movement. Between each vertebra are squishy discs that help absorb shock to the spine. If these cushions become slightly dislodged, it causes a herniated disc, which can create severe back pain and many uncomfortable symptoms. If you suffer from this type of pain, it may radiate down the legs and restrict them from functioning properly, but for some patients, the pain may not be as severe. Even if you only experience slight pain, we highly recommend seeing a medical professional immediately to prevent any further damage to the nerves. At Tricity Pain Associates in Corpus Christi, TX, we proudly offer many innovative treatments that give patients substantial relief and prevent further damage to the spine. "I am happy there. Dr. is going the extra mile. I have been to other Doctors no one tried as hard. You have to realize they can only do so much. The other place lost my x-ray and never ordered another. You will be sorry if you leave"- M.C. / Google / Jul 09, 2021

"I want to give kudos to Dr. Kao for his expertise and in-office pain management equipmentthat I have had treatment on.Having very stiff back muscles from years of FIBROMYALGIA and other related issues, the injections he gave me, neuro muscurally were quite effective.During another office visit, in describing some of my neck stiffness going down to my shoulder he went and got some injections to take care of the persistent spasming. His office is clean and staff is friendly.I would recommend him to other patients."- D.J. / Google / Jan 14, 2020

Herniated Disc Treatment
Depending on your case, a herniated disc can be severe, or it may not require advanced treatment. For less severe cases, we may prescribe pain medicine or physical therapy to reduce symptoms and help your body heal. If you suffer from severe pain, our pain management doctors will create a treatment plan that has more advanced procedure options. No matter the pain level for a herniated disc, we strongly recommend setting up an appointment to prevent long-term damage. During your consultation, we will perform a comprehensive exam, which may include diagnostic tests, such as pain mapping or a discogram. After we have assessed your condition, our team will discuss the treatment options that work best for you.
