About Spinal Cord Stimulation
With the use of a small implant, spinal cord stimulation (SCS) is an innovative treatment that applies mild electrical sensations to the spine and reduces nerve pain. Often, we use this type of procedure for patients who still experience chronic symptoms after trying multiple, conservative treatment types, such as physical therapy or nerve blocks. Additionally, SCS might work well for patients who want to avoid back surgery. Through comprehensive diagnostic exams and customized treatment plans, our team at Tricity Pain Associates in Corpus Christi, TX strives to provide patient-centered care and help improve your quality of life. Before we place the implant, we will ask you to complete a one-week trial period to determine if spinal cord stimulation is right for you. Please schedule an appointment to meet with one of our expert pain management physicians and learn more about spinal cord stimulation.
"I am happy there. Dr. is going the extra mile. I have been to other Doctors no one tried as hard. You have to realize they can only do so much. The other place lost my x-ray and never ordered another. You will be sorry if you leave"- M.C. / Google / Jul 09, 2021

Spinal Stimulation Treatment
After completing the trial, patients will come back to our office so we can insert the long-term spinal cord stimulation device. Made of three main parts, the spinal cord stimulation treatment includes the current generator, thin wires or electrodes, and a handheld remote. Before we begin the surgery, patients receive local anesthesia and we use live x-ray technology to place the system. Once you are thoroughly numb, our physicians create small incisions, insert the implant, and connect it to the electrodes located along the spine. Next, we will close the incisions and test the device to ensure it works. Since spinal cord stimulation is an outpatient treatment, patients may return home following their appointment.
