To identify the underlying cause of spinal pain, a discogram or discography uses advanced medical imaging and a contrast solution to determine if patients have any structural damage to their spine. A discogram is generally used for men and women who still have chronic pain, even after trying conservative treatments, such as physical therapy or pain medication. Different from a typical medical exam, a discogram test allows our physicians to comprehensively examine your spine while identifying the type and level of damage. At Tricity Pain Associates in Corpus Christi, TX, we are excited to offer innovative exams that help our patients start to overcome their painful back symptoms. Please call and speak to our friendly staff about arranging an appointment for a discogram.
"I am so grateful for Tricity Pain Management they actually listen and care. I had a bad experience with another Pain Management years ago with a very extensive shoulder surgery and so you could say it was so good to have a a PA like James Houston to take care of me. Daniel his assistant is super kind as well. I wished my insurance company Atena cared like TriCity. This has been a very tough and trying season of my life. If you have a issue share it and they will listen. Thank you for caring during it."- A.L. / Google / Aug 18, 2022

"I am happy there. Dr. is going the extra mile. I have been to other Doctors no one tried as hard. You have to realize they can only do so much. The other place lost my x-ray and never ordered another. You will be sorry if you leave"- M.C. / Google / Jul 19, 2021

Based on how many discs we assess, discograms usually take about 30 – 60 minutes to complete and are performed in-office. At the beginning of your assessment, you will lie comfortably on your stomach underneath an x-ray machine. Next, we inject a contrast dye into your back and use the x-ray machine to take detailed images of your spinal column. This allows us to identify if you have any spinal fractures or injuries. Following your discogram, we monitor you for a brief period and allow you to return home and resume daily activities. Generally, patients may experience tenderness around the injection sites, but this should subside after a few hours.
A discogram or discography uses advanced imaging technology to help identify the underlying cause of your back pain and can help us determine what treatments work best for you. Please call Tricity Pain Associates in Corpus Christi, TX to learn more about this helpful diagnostic test.
